Sri Lanka's Path towards Knowledge Based Economy
This is a collection of my thoughts on making Sri Lanka a Knowledge Based Economy. I will appreciate constructive comments from anyone. The opinions expressed here are my own and do not represent, in any way, the views of my employer - University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka or any other organization that I am associated with.
Greetings for all who want Sri Lanka emerge as a Knowledge Based Economy
The Government of Sri Lanka has made it known that Knowledge Economy is one of their primary objectives. Better late than never!! Sri Lanka has more than 20 million population. This is just one million less than that of Australia - a country 100 times bigger than us. What does the above say? We are blessed with the most important resource in this world - people. More than 25% of the population is less than 14 yrs old. It could be that more than 50% of the population (i.e. approx. 10 million) is less than 30yrs old. What more could we ask for?
We boast of higher literacy rate. But are we getting anything out of that? May be now is the time we need to get the maximum. This blog is for anyone who want to see Sri Lanka one day as a Knowledge Based Economy. If you are genuinely interested in this endeavor you will be most welcome. Just drop an email to me.
